Drake Maye’s Challenging Patriots Debut

The New England Patriots lost again, making it their fourth loss in a row. They played against the Miami Dolphins and didn’t do well. Jacoby Brissett, the team’s quarterback, threw 18 passes out of 34 for 160 yards. That’s not very good.

Brissett isn’t leaving the team, but he’s going to be sitting on the bench now.

Instead of Brissett, rookie Drake Maye will take over as the starting quarterback for next Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. It’s been expected for a while since Maye was considered the future star of the Patriots. Sometimes change happens faster than we think!

Fans are excited about Maye stepping in because it brings new energy to the team. More people are likely to watch Sunday’s game because of this change. However, there’s a reason why Maye wasn’t starting from day one despite showing promise during training and preseason games.

The Patriots have been struggling all season, aiming for a top draft pick next year rather than winning games right now. Their current roster just isn’t built to support an outstanding quarterback.

Maye’s debut will come against a tough opponent like Houston, which could make things challenging at first. Facing players like Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr., who are known for sacking quarterbacks often, will be quite a test for him as a newcomer.

This switch was bound to happen eventually since Brissett couldn’t carry on as QB1 all season long. He’s smart but lacks some key skills needed in this situation—skills that Maye possesses but still need development over time.

For my money though? Maye should’ve been picked second in April’s NFL Draft! But unfortunately for him (and fortunately?), New England might be one of worst places right now except maybe Carolina due mainly because their offensive line has been weak since Week 2 with Brissett getting sacked 17 times already!

Even when Maye briefly replaced Brissett during Week 3 against Jets he got sacked twice too! So while he may improve those touchdown numbers compared with what we’ve seen so far from Brissett—it comes at great risk given constant pressure leading potentially bad habits or worse yet injuries…

Having Maye lead adds fresh dynamics; still probably better if he’d had more time learning under experienced players before taking charge himself especially considering current state roster-wise!
