Agincourt Resources Achieve the Best Award at the Prestigious Event of Good Mining Practice from The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM)

Jakarta, September 26, 2024 – PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) achieved the Best Implementation of Good Mining Practice/ GMP 2024 Award for the Group of Metal Mineral Commodity Business License Holders from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The operator of Martabe Gold Mine also won seven other awards, including the best trophy for environmental management and mineral and coal conservation, at the prestigious event.

The Best Award was received directly by the President Director of Agincourt Resources Muliady Sutio from the Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of ESDM Tri Winarno in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/9/2024).

“This award is a real proof, appreciation, and motivation for us to continue to apply good mining rules and continue to contribute positively to social welfare and environmental sustainability in our operational areas,” said Muliady.

Seven rewards were successfully won by Martabe Gold Mine, namely the Aditama Award for Practice Management of Mineral and Coal Mining, the Aditama Award for Environmental Management of Mineral and Coal Mining, the Aditama Award for Mineral and Coal Mining Conservation Management, the Main Award for Mineral and Coal Mining Standardization and Business Services Management, and the Main Award for Mineral and Coal Mining Safety Management.

PTAR, which currently operates in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, also received two of the most prestigious trophies in the world of metal mineral mining, namely the Best Award for the Environmental Management Aspect of Mineral and Coal Mining and the Best Award for the Management Aspect of Mineral and Coal Conservation.

By achieving the Best Award, PTAR is considered to have met all the criteria for mineral and coal mining assessment, namely technical management, safety management, environmental management, mineral and coal conservation management, as well as standardization and mineral and coal mining service business.

“The trophy is recognition from the government for our commitment to sustainability, including managing biodiversity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It is also proof of our efforts in managing mineral resources responsibly and sustainably,” said Muliady.

In his remarks, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia asked for the mining businesses to apply mining rules to ensure business sustainability and protect the environment.

We encourage ecosystem arrangement towards a better environment. Not only during the mining process, but the post-mining is also important, environment and community factors must also be considered,” he said.

PTAR’s efforts in managing the environment were also awarded at the event of Indonesia Green and Sustainable Companies Award (IGSCA) 2024 in the form of Very Good predicate in the Best Innovation in ESG Implementation – Manufacturing category and Good predicate in the Best Innovation in Circular Economy Implementation category.

General Manager & Deputy Director Operations Agincourt Resources, Rahmat Lubis, said that this award proves the principles of the Company’s business management in accordance with environmental, social, and governance criteria.

 “We are responsible for managing the environment and comply with the strict environmental management policy according to the regulation concerning the pollution, water, waste, energy, and biodiversity management,” he said after receiving the award in Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/9/2024).

The company performs several environmental management actions, including enrichment of the sengon biomass production in reclamation areas, planting the local plants in critical forests, utilizing waste oil, and installing rooftops solar PV. Innovation also continues to be encouraged, one of them is the Batang Toru forest herbarium and native forest enrichment.

In this award event, some experts were involved as the judges, namely the Chairman of the Indonesian Institute for Corporate Governance (IICG) Gendut Suprayitno, the Minister of Environment 1999-2001 Sony Keraf, the Chairman of The Environment and Energy Commission – Indonesia ICC Masnellyarti Hilman, and the Professor of Landscape Ecology and Resource Management of Institut Pertanian Bogor Hadi Susilo Arifin.
